Under the banner of Jamaat-e-Islami Women’s Wing Karachi, a Teachers’ Convention was held at a local banquet hall in North Nazimabad.
The convention was addressed by Dr. Humaira Tariq (Secretary General, JI Women’s Wing Pakistan), Dr. Sameeha Raheel Qazi (Deputy Secretary General, JI), Samina Saeed (Director Media Cell Pakistan), and Jawdan Faheem (Nazima Karachi). A large number of scholars and teachers from the education sector participated and were also honored with awards.
Key Highlights from the Convention:
Dr. Humaira Tariq emphasized that teachers must recognize their role in shaping the new generation into practicing Muslims and patriotic citizens. She criticized the exploitative salaries of teachers, the poor state of public institutions, and the class-based education system where elite schools produce officers while poor children are left with limited opportunities despite their talent. She warned against foreign-funded NGOs spreading values contrary to Islamic and social traditions.
Dr. Sameeha Raheel Qazi stated that a teacher’s duty goes beyond textbooks — they must instill self-respect, patriotism, and commitment to faith, while resisting Western ideological influence.
Other speakers, including educationists and school leaders, stressed the joint responsibility of parents and teachers, the dangers of secular ideologies, and the need to safeguard young minds.
Jawdan Faheem presented a Charter of Demands, calling for:
An end to the class-based education system
Curriculum reforms aligned with modern needs
Teacher training programs
Better facilities and protection for women teachers
Higher salaries for private school teachers
Restoration of student unions
Reduction in self-finance seats in government and medical colleges
The event was also attended by Atiya Nisar (Deputy Secretary General, JI Pakistan), Rakhshanda Muneeb (Nazima Sindh), and renowned educationists including Syeda Ana Hasan, Imrana Moeiz, Yameni Shoaib, and Najm-un-Nisa Khan.
