Our society is a society of born-Muslims; however, unawareness about the
teachings of Islam is quite common. Due to various reasons, women are more
unaware than anybody else. Most of the people don’t know as to what the rank of
the women is in the Muslim society, what their rights are, which Islam has
guaranteed to safeguard, what are the injunctions of the Shari-at in this
connection and what the common laws of the state say about them. To focus on the
issues, Jamaat-e-Islami Women’s Wing has constituted a Women’s Commission, which
helps in policy making and gives intellectual and practical guidelines in the
light of the teachings of Islam. In this connection the Commission has the
assistance of experts from different fields. The commission not only brings
women’s issues and problems to the provincial and federal legislative
institutions but also highlights them through the mass media. The Commission has
lately begun country-wide surveys on the problems, attitudes and aptitudes of
women. The results and findings of these surveys will be brought to the
knowledge of the public through media.
