Women should not go for Hajj without a male Mehram.
Going without a Mehram is not allowed for women. Hadrat Abbas (May Allah
be pleased with him) reported that The Prophet of Allah (PBUH) said that
no man should be alone with a female stranger and no woman should travel
without a Mehram male. To that a person asked the Prophet (PBUH) that I
have been accepted for Jihad and my wife is going for Hajj. He replied
that you should not go for Jihad and instead you should accompany your
wife for Hajj. It's been said that some women declare a fake Mehram and
go for Hajj, remember that, this as well is a sin. One should not make a
mockery of Islam and its laws. In this case the Hajj will be done but
the lie and deceit will be recorded in Allah’s eyes for both the man and
the woman.
-
A woman upon whom Hajj is fard but cannot find a Mehram companion should
wait until she finds such companion. Any delay because of this situation
is not punishable. If a woman cannot find a Mehram all her life then she
must ask for Hajj-Badal in her will before dying.
-
A woman is strictly forbidden to go for Hajj while in
her Iddat, this rule is stronger than the rule of her not being
accompanied by a Mehram. During her Iddat she is not supposed to leave
the house for less than 48 miles or 77 kilometers. In this time a woman
can only leave if it's absolutely necessary and should leave during
daylight. At night fall she should return to the house where she is
spending her Iddat and remain in that house. It is obvious that this can
not be done in Hajj so women should not think of performing Hajj while
in Iddat. If a woman does however perform Hajj during her Iddat, her
Hajj will be completed but she would be sinful for breaking the shariya
on her Iddat.
While wearing the Ihram women are not supposed to wear it like men do.
She can wear her everyday clothing even if it's colorful. She can wear
socks and gloves but it's better not to. Silk clothing and all types of
jewelry is allowed. She can also wear any kind of shoes.
It is obligatory for women to cover their heads. They cannot keep it
uncovered like men. A woman should wear a headscarf to cover her but
should be careful not to let the fabric come onto the forehead because
it is not allowed for any fabric to touch a woman’s forehead while in
Ihram. Covering the head is for the Satar and is not a requirement for
Ihram. Some women keep it on during wudu which is wrong as well the hair
has to get wet. In the same way when doing ghusul women should wet the
hair to the root they should remember not to use perfumed soap.
-
Do not say Tasbeeh loudly.
- Iztaba is not allowed.
- Women should not walk fast in tawaf like men.
there are too many men then women should do tawaf
away from the men. There is a lot of rush during Hajj so women should
stay on the outside. Also go to Hajra Aswad only if there is room.
After Asr prayer and especially after Maghrib
prayer there is a big crown of women in which they shove and push one
another. This practice should be strongly avoided.
-
Importantly as 8 Zilhajj approaches the crowds get
bigger. The crowds for prayer for men are large and are hard to
penetrate. It is better for women to get done with their prayer some
time before the congregational prayers start.
-
At the end of the Tawaf if there is a big crowd of men
then the women should not pray at the place of Ibrahim, instead find
another location.
-
While doing Saee between Safa and Marwa women should not run between the
two pillars. Some women run the whole way which is not allowed.
-
When there is a big crowd of men women should not climb the steps of the
hills of Sawa and Marwa.
-
Women should remain close to the railing while doing Saee to avoid men.
-
At the time of taking off the Ahram women should not shave their
heads instead they should cut the 4th part of their hair the size of
a finger’s pore.
-
Upon leaving the house if the woman is menstruating she should put
on the Ihram anyways. She should however do ghusul and if that’s not
a possibility she should just perform wudu face the Qibla and say
the Talbiya.
- If menstruation starts while in Ihram it does not break the
Ihram.
-
Upon reaching Makkah she should stay at home and do tasbeeh and
talbiya. She should not enter the Haram or the Masjid-e-Nabwi in her
condition. She can perform Umrah as required once she is clean and
has performed ghusul.
-
In the same way in Hajj if a woman is menstruating she can do tasbeeh
and stay in mina, muzdalfa and Arafat and should not perform
Tawaf-e-Ziyarat. Once she is clean she should Perform Tawaf-e Ziyarat
right away.
-
20. If because of mensus Tawaf and Ziyarat are delayed it would be okay.
But do remember that these are essential part of Hajj and without these
Hajj is incomplete. If a woman cannot stay because of some problem then
she should do the Tawaf while in her mensus without saying any formal
prayers. She can say those prayers on her way back after cleaning
herself.
- It is important to note that it is only permitted to do so in
extreme problematic situations and this should not be taken as a
excuse to bend the rules to suit one’s needs.
-
If she gets her mensus while performing Tawad and Saee she should stop
and come out of the Mosque and complete it later.
-
IF the Tawaf has been completed then its okay to perform Saee while
menstruating since one does not have to be clean for that.
ss
-
If she has to leave while she is menstruating and cannot performer
Tawaf-e-Wida it is not punishable for her. She should not enter The
Kaabah or the Masjid-e-Nabwi and should make dua standing outside.
